The Illusion Of "Balance"
If you're the type to totally drain yourself in your attempts to be a thriving, healthy human, this one's for you...
So often, at least for those of us who enjoy and prioritize forms of self-improvement, we are thrown this idea of "balance."
If you're anything like me, this elusive understanding of "balance" can easily change colors and turn into disappointment in myself.
I've come to think very differently about "balance."
If you're anything like me, intensity and hyper-focus COURSES through our veins as creative and entrepreneurial human beings.
Here's frame of mind I've settled on that has been ENORMOUSLY helpful in being better at resting, self-love, AND productivity:
Zoom out. Balance doesn't need to exist on a daily basis. I think we often hold ourselves to an impossible and unhealthy standard of robotic consistency day-to-day.
Yeah, sure, there are things we can consistently do that will better our health and wellness, but we are HUMAN — fluctuation and evolution are in our DNA. As long as the net-result is forward movement, you're killing it.
View your life as a series of seasons, chapters, episodes, whatever you want to call it. A season for deep rest, a chapter to hyper-focus on getting that business off the ground, an episode for mess and healing — it's all part of this deal called being human.
Ride the waves, my darling.
